This is a very broad collection of stories, slightly modernized (values are sometimes stated in modern, western units) but seem to hold true to there origins. There are enough stories here to keep you going for a long time--I've been reading it in fits for a couple of years and am only about half way through. The stories are sometimes interesting, sometimes silly, sometimes boring. You might recognize a few here and there, or catch a hint of something familiar once in a while, but most are new to me. Themes definitely repeat, and logic and continuity aren't always to be found. But, after all, these are basically fairy tales, so don't expect reality.

Popular Tales from the Norse Sir George Webbie Dasent 9781470067410 Books Reviews
I am enjoying the boom very much.
I love reading these type of tales to find the more things change the more they stay the same. I pop in and out of these books and just enjoy the short stories. Great food for thought.
Sometimes morbid but interesting
Love reading from these kinds of books.
This book was a great slow read I enjoyed that bright to mind the works of Grimm, HC Andersen and Aesop. I rated it high because of the immense detail and research the author presented into the work. I e enjoyed the many short stories. I was reminded of all of our childhood stories and their origins. It was fascinating.
Very entertaining book on Northern mythology. At times I wished the tales were a bit longer but they were a captivating read and I enjoyed greatly the fact that I could read just one whenever I had the time and then come back for the next. Fantastic.
Its a Norse Mythos book. A collection of tales and poems. Its very helpful in learning about the ancient Nordic people and what they believed.
